Mr Balazs Sarrang
senior partner & project management expert
I am the senior architect and project manager of Smarthitect Studio.
I hold a degree in Civil Engineering from Széchenyi Istvan University – Hungary, specializing in Bridge Construction (1989). I also hold a degree in Architecture Design from the University of Budapest (1992).
At the outset of my career, I contributed to the Hungarian Government’s most significant bridge infrastructure project, the Hárosi Duna Bridge in Budapest, as a Quality Controller in 1993.
Over the past 33 years, I have served as an architect and project manager in both Europe and Asia. In 2000, I founded my own company, Project System International Holding Co LTD, in Budapest, Hungary, where I successfully executed various residential and commercial projects from inception to completion, handling aspects such as financing, design, construction, and sales.
Following the Economic World Crisis in 2010, I relocated to Thailand, embraced new opportunities, and have since spent the last decade residing in Phuket as a proficient Project Manager.
I launched Smarthitect Studio (operated by Happy Project Co Ltd.) which is a Phuket based full-service architecture and design studio. We offer our clients a full range of architectural planning and design services as well as complete project management, from concept through construction, always ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project deliveries.
With 33 years of experience I am dedicated to creating spaces that are not only extraordinary but also harmoniously blend innovative design, functionality, and sustainability.
The highlight of my credentials is delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and with a focus on high-quality completion.
The implementation of a project is an intricately complex process! This is what I always emphasize to our respective clients. As a qualified expert, my areas of experience and expertise include overseeing and surveying all the crucial phases of a project while controlling three fundamental elements:
1. Quality (Design and specially selected materials, controlling)
2. Time (Organization, Contractors)
3. Price (Budget Control, Smart Sourcing, Tender)

I find it important to point out that project management is essential when an architect is also the civil engineer and the quality controller. It facilitates effective coordination, time and budget management, risk mitigation, quality assurance, and compliance with regulations. Project management ensures client satisfaction, stakeholder engagement, and long-term project success, especially when multiple roles are handled by one entity. This ensures high quality within the designated budget and scheduled timeframe.
Through the challenges encountered in my journey, I have gained valuable lessons that have honed my expertise, empowering me to ensure the delivery of projects with excellent quality, all while adhering to the allocated budgets and specified timelines. My approach involves integrating the knowledge and expertise of a civil engineer, architect and project manager working in an interdisciplinary way to achieve comprehensive outcomes. Ms Barbara Karall
Barbara coordinates all aspects of project administrations and marketing for Smarthitect Studio from acceptance until the very last detail. A part of her duties is to actively monitor day to-day business operations as well as interact with external partners.
Barbara is a former teacher having over 17 years of experience in education and management. While working both in Europe and Asia she developed high level skills in organization and communication. Having worked in Thailand, her firsthand experience in Asian cultures brings a comprehensive set of skills in project delivery. She is both creative and structured and is committed to creating value for her colleagues and her partners.

Ms Hommuang Buppatip
With 15 years of experience in administration, Pang maintains the highest standard of services in coordinating both foreign and Thai partners. She is a valued support pillar for the team – keeping everything organized at all times. Pang has sound knowledge in administrative procedures as well as personnel management.
